What do the guys from BORA - hansgrohe like to cook when they are in the kitchen and what do they order in the restaurant? These are the top 5 of their favourite foods.

Pro cyclists have to pay constant attention to their diet: How many grams of carbohydrates do I need to eat? How much protein do I need for regeneration? Is the dish also low in fat and sugar? And when is the best time to top up your stores? This is a science in itself and can be quite exhausting. This makes it all the more important that the food spreads a good mood and that the guys from BORA - hansgrohe are happy to take a seat at the table, for example in the BORA Kitchen Truck.

Some of the drivers are passionate amateur chefs themselves and, provided their limited free time allows, enjoy cooking meticulously at home. For example, Nico Denz, Bob Jungels, Nils Politt and Patrick Konrad, who even considered training as a chef before becoming a professional cyclist. They are all united by their love of Italian cuisine. But Asian dishes also have their fans. A great deal of importance is attached to the quality and regionality of the ingredients, because your own body as a personal engine should only be powered by the best fuel, preferably Italian. We asked around and put together the five favourite dishes of the BORA - hansgrohe professionals for you.

    5st place: Wok

As short as the word is, as long is the list of potential ingredients. Wok dishes are perfect for creating a firework of flavours with a variety of ingredients or for transforming leftovers from the fridge into a delicious dish. There are no limits to your imagination.

      4st place: Curry

Alongside wok dishes, curry is the second representative of Asian cuisine in this list, and this also impresses with its great variety and diverse combination options. With meat, vegetarian or vegan. Red, green or yellow. The Indian all-rounder is particularly appreciated by the 2022 Giro d'Italia winner, Jai Hindley, whose first name also fittingly comes from Indian.

        3st place: Meat dishes

A completely vegetarian lifestyle is out of the question for most professionals. They love their steak with sweet potatoes (Nils Politt), specialities from the local butcher (Patrick Gamper) or fresh game like Nico Denz, who often benefits from his father's hunting licence.

          2st place: Pasta

A plate full of pasta - the cycling dish par excellence and quite rightly immortalised here with its own BORA story. Pasta is a classic, especially during the season, and although it is sometimes served for breakfast, it continues to enjoy unbroken popularity among professional cyclists.

            1st place: Pizza

As mentioned at the beginning, "Italian cuisine" is the answer par excellence when professional athletes are asked about their culinary preferences. After pasta, pizza is also a must here and is clearly in first place. I wonder if some of you have eaten enough pasta and would rather have an oven-fresh pizza? Or as Emanuel Buchmann says: "Pasta is always good, but pizza tastes even better."
