And not only that: it’s also about keeping it fresh. Fresh air in the kitchen is a must have – and with BORA cooktop extractors it is guaranteed. How? Through the new BORA activated charcoal filters, featuring a patented easy-access system. Because for BORA, a great cooking experience is not a slogan but a priority.
It all started with the quest for fresh air within the kitchen as a living space. A concept that for BORA has never been a claim but a mission. The desire to ensure clean, fresh air while removing the traditional extractor hood which, despite its essential function, disrupted conviviality and compromised the aesthetics of a space that more than ever today represents the beating heart of every home and family.
It was 2007 when, well ahead of its time and the surrounding market, BORA overturned conventional design to reposition an appliance and refocus priorities. BORA founder Willi Bruckbauer, a carpenter in the 6th generation, began to create a new way of experiencing the kitchen, ensuring the healthiness of this space. By redesigning layouts and creating airflow dynamics where none had existed before and with the clear objective of ensuring that cooking processes would no longer obstruct the sense of wellbeing within the home. Thanks to this quiet revolution the kitchen has gained its central role amongst the living.
Well-being is about food, but also about the environment
Just as we increasingly seek the highest quality and health-giving properties in food, ingredients and cooking techniques, it becomes clear that feeling well also depends on the quality of the air in the space where foods are prepared and enjoyed. It is during cooking, when smells intensify and vapours as well as other substances are released from ingredients and we introduce the greatest amount of emissions into our indoor air.
These emissions must be properly extracted and either eliminated or safely reintroduced into the kitchen once filtered. Simply extracting the air is not enough: it must be filtered – and filtered quickly – before these substances can escape the reach of extractors and linger in the environment and on clothes and in hair. In fact, these odours affect one of our senses without us even realising it and the most common risk is becoming nose-blind: no longer able to distinguish pleasant from unpleasant smells and consequently losing an ability that allows us to fully experience flavour in the kitchen. This is where technology steps in. And when it comes to odour filtration technology, it is called BORA.
A new generation of charcoal filters to enjoy the pleasure of cooking
It is within this context that the new BORA eSwap and eSwap Plus activated charcoal filters were developed, distinguished by their blue handle and included as a standard of the BORA Pure family, a range of four compact cooktop extractor systems. The odour filters come with the ambition of delivering the best possible air quality and to ensure the highest filtration standards in the industry.
Good to know: Any BORA cooktop system consists of two filters - one is the stainless-steel grease filter and the other is the activated charcoal filter. And here, odour filtration depends on the size. The larger the surface of the activated charcoal, the more effectively odours can be filtered from the air. BORA guarantees maximum filtration performance and therefore superior air quality with an extra-large filter surface area of 4,500 cm², which allows effective odour filtration.
This is where the expertise of BORA ventilation technology really kicks in: thanks to optimal airflow, the air passes evenly across the entire width of the filter. In addition, BORA has applied an anti-fish layer that is particularly effective at filtering unpleasant sea food odours.
Maximum efficiency, highest performance and exceptional ease of use
BORA Pure cooktop extractor systems automatically remind users to change the filter after 150 hours of use. Depending on individual cooking habits, this corresponds to more than a year of service life, during which the air filter results are consistently optimal. Replacing the charcoal filter is a straightforward process thanks to the BORA patented eSwap odour filter replacement system: The air inlet nozzle is easily removed with the fingertips from the appliance, followed by the grease filter, while the charcoal filter can be pulled out using the integrated tab. The new charcoal filter is then rolled up and placed back into the appliance. No other tools are needed. Quick and easy.
And what about cleaning the grease filter? In the dishwasher of course! It couldn’t be easier.
